Hi there, Morgan! Thanks for racing by with your question. It’s always great to chat about runDisney magic!
The
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is truly fit for royalty, and I can already tell you’ll be treated like the princess you are. The atmosphere is so welcoming, and the course winds through Magic Kingdom Park and even takes you right through Cinderella Castle. Talk about a storybook moment! I still remember my first runDisney event, because it hooked me instantly, and the Disney Princess races hold a special place in my heart!
Now, about those medals! For the
Half Marathon, my understanding is that participants who start the race typically receive their medal even if they don’t complete it. However, for the
Fairytale Challenge, medals are only awarded to those who complete all required races—hence the “challenge” aspect! Honestly, I think waking up at 3 AM to get to the starting line is an accomplishment worthy of a medal itself!
If you’re feeling a bit unsure about your training, I highly recommend checking out
Jeff Galloway’s training plans on the runDisney website. Even with just over five weeks to go, you could start at Week 13 and see how it feels. His run-walk-run method is a game-changer! It’s gentler on your legs, helps with recovery, and can keep you below the 16-minute-per-mile pace requirement. And don’t stress too much about the Balloon Ladies at the back of the pack! They’re there to help keep you motivated, not to scare you off the course.
Morgan, I hope this helps ease your worries! Remember, every step you take is something to celebrate. Keep your tiara straight, trust your training, and most importantly, enjoy every magical mile. If you have any more questions, feel free to sprint back my way. I’ll be cheering you on!
