Geri from NY Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Are the rides open New Years eve in Epcot? And will thete still be the DJ in some countries? And sorry do we need a extra ticket?

Well hello there Geri, it's great to welcome you to planDisney as you prepare for your big holiday trip in December!

Whether you're a first-timer, and occasional visitor or even a frequent fan of the Disney Parks - heading to Walt Disney World Resort during the week of Christmas and certainly for New Year's Eve requires in my opinion, a lot of extra planning and preparedness to ensure that you have the best experience possible while you contend with the heavy hustle and bustle of the holiday crowds. Luckily you've come to us here at planDisney, where we've got pros who know how to bravely navigate among the thousands of fellow revelers and I'm happy to help you get an idea of what to expect as you ring in the New Year!

    • The rides and attractions typically do remain open at EPCOT on New Year's Eve, as a welcome respite from the loud music and parties taking place all around World Showcase Lagoon. It's important to be aware that this can be one of the busiest - if not the most popular - evening to head to EPCOT out of the year, so heading in with the understanding that you'll likely have to face longer standby waits for most things would be best to avoid any disappointment. This is an excellent opportunity to look into purchasing Lightning Lane Passes to get you onto the rides you want faster, though again there's a chance that these dynamically-priced may be subject to shift higher on these very popular dates.
    • Luckily however, as long as you have valid park admission to EPCOT on New Year's Eve you will not need an additional ticket to enter. Though very rare, there's a possibility that a theme park may temporarily restrict entry if capacity limits are being reached in an effort to ensure a safe experience for all guests, though this appears to happen more frequently at Magic Kingdom Park - since EPCOT can help the crowds spread out a lot more.
    • While entertainment offerings have yet to be confirmed and typically not listed anywhere this much in advance, there have historically been several DJs scattered around EPCOT and often found in the pavilions that have much more space to accommodate hundreds of partiers. In recent years this has included a silent disco-style party in the United Kingdom pavilion, and larger setups in Japan, China as well as adjacent to The American Adventure.
    • Since entertainment offerings are also subject to change without prior notice, you'll often hear them before you see them as you make your way around the countries; I often recommend using the edges of the pathways to navigate as there tends to be a very slow-moving mass of folks in the very middle. It's a good idea to choose an area that you'd want to remain in while you watch Luminous The Symphony of Us earlier in the evening and stick around the dance party you vibe with most in time for Cheers to the New Year: A Sparkling Celebration that's scheduled to begin at about 11:54 P.M. and conclude with a countdown.
I hope that this helps, Geri! Packing a bit of patience will go a long way as you head down to Orlando along with the thousands of other folks and families packing into the theme park for some very special holiday cheer - and I very highly encourage that you come back to us here at planDisney for more strategies and advice to help you throughout your week!

Here's to ending off this year in style in the most magical way!
