Hi there Leslie, it's great to welcome you back to planDisney!
I'm that you've come to us here to help provide you with insight and advice ahead of your Disney Wedding next year, and based on your previous questions that I as well as
fellow Disney Bride and Panelist Kay helped you out with - it sounds like you've got a ceremony at
Disney's Wedding Pavilion followed by a reception up at
California Grill!
As you might remember, I got married here at Walt Disney World Resort just last year and we had also considered what it would be like heading from Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to Disney's Contemporary Resort from the transportation options available to us in order to be able to have stunning views over Cinderella Castle during our reception. As of my recent visit last week,
I recommend choosing the larger dining area for a daytime event for the best way to get those stunning Magic Kingdom Park views, and though the two smaller Napa and Sonoma venues don't quite currently provide that same view you can still see a lot from the outdoor walkways just outside (when permitted to do so).
Using
Walt Disney World Monorail Transportation to travel between venue locations around the Seven Seas Lagoon can be a cost-saving and also enjoyable way for wedding parties to get around, but there's also no way of guaranteeing that it will be running on your big day. (Though getting temporarily delayed may be an inconvenience on any other theme park day, you can imagine how much more of an issue this would be for a wedding being run with a specific timeline!)
You'll be happy to hear that I've personally observed and ridden alongside so many other couples over the past few years alone and
Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons previously shared an image of a bride on a monorail ride
taken by a Disney Fine Art Photographer. Brides and Grooms have even taken this all the way to EPCOT in order to meet at the front before their Fireworks Dessert Parties in various World Showcase venues! Be aware that it may ultimately be up to the discretion of the Security or Transportation Cast Members (or their management) that you'll have to encounter prior to boarding the monorail and that policies may be subject to change without prior notice who will determine whether your attire is safe and permitted.
I personally recommend giving yourself a good chunk of time as well as having multiple backup transportation plans if you do want to try to attempt this, especially as someone who was caught in a thunderstorm that caused a monorail delay for nearly half an hour in recent years. Be aware that though guests may be courteous to provide you with room when you board your monorail car, there is currently no way to guarantee a space; be prepared to risk strollers or stains if you encounter young families and hopefully your event timings will help you accomplish this during a non-peak time of day for riders. In the end we listened to our planner's recommendations and
booked transportation for our guests, but I'm crossing my fingers that your plans will go off without a hitch - just after you two get hitched!
Here's to your journey between venues as you both say "I do" at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
