How does Rider switch/Single rider lane work? Husband & I are bringing our 10yr old son. What if we all want to ride the same ride but its only a 2-seater ride? Does one Parent go in the single rider lane? Or can we all stand in the reg line together?

    Angela, welcome to planDisney!

It’s my pleasure to help you plan your great, big, beautiful tomorrow!

For attractions with two-seat rows, you’re absolutely welcome to wait in line together. When it’s time to board, one of you will simply need to sit in front of or behind the other two. There is no need to wait in a separate line.

Single Rider lines allow Guests who don’t mind riding solo to fill empty seats on attractions. These lines typically move faster than the regular standby queues and can be a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious way to cut wait times. Here's a current list of attractions that have a permanent Single Rider line:

    - Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disney's Hollywood Studios
    - Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney's Hollywood Studios
    - Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park
    - Test Track at EPCOT (closed for reimagining until late Summer 2025)
    - Remy's Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT

Four other attractions sometimes have Single Rider lines. These are:

    - Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park
    - Soarin’ Around the World at EPCOT
    - Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom Park
    - Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Rider Switch is a little different but is one of my go-to services at Walt Disney World Resort. As a Disney dad with two Mouseketeers, I know firsthand that not all attractions are suitable for my kids. That’s why my wife and I zip-a-dee-doo-dah our way to Rider Switch whenever we want to experience the more thrilling attractions, like TRON Lightcycle / Run or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

Rider Switch is available all day, even during Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Theme Park Hours! Here's how it works: Imagine your son decides to skip an attraction that you and your husband are excited to experience. In the words of Buzz Lightyear, “This is no time to panic.” And before you channel Woody with, “This is the perfect time to panic!”—don’t worry, because this is where Rider Switch saves the day! One parent waits in line while the other stays back with your son. Once the first parent finishes the ride, the second parent gets their turn with a negligible wait. Just mention Rider Switch to a friendly Cast Member at the attraction entrance. It’s practically perfect in every way!

I hope that's helpful, Angela. Please stop by planDisney again if you have any other questions. May your joy soar to infinity and beyond.
