Hi there, Holly, and welcome to planDisney!
As a mom of two young kiddos, I totally get that one of your little ones isn’t quite ready to save the galaxy yet. While my older son rode
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind for the first time when he was in Kindergarten, my younger son will probably wait it out for quite a few more years. But Hakuna Matata! There are thrills for everyone, and I am more than happy to share what my family does in this exact situation.
There is indeed an indoor play area connected to Mission: SPACE called the
Advanced Training Lab that has limited hours of operation. This was my family’s go-to choice the first couple of years of Guardian of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind’s opening. It works perfectly while waiting for your turn to go through the Lightning Lane via the
Rider Switch Service.Another option is to check out
Club Cool Hosted by Coca-Cola near Creations Shop. This is nearby and your little one would love the free tasting of the different flavors of Coca-Cola from around the world. If you’re okay with walking over a little farther, there is a new, indoor meet-and-greet opportunity called
Mickey & Friends in World Celebration. There are four characters there and the wait times are usually on the shorter side.
AN EXTRA GEM: Now that my younger son is tall enough to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, but still doesn’t want to ride it, we also like to walk him through the queue. There are so many fun elements of storytelling and tech within the queue. It was also fun to spend time with the whole family instead of splitting up. There was a little area behind doors off to the side of the loading zone where he and another adult can chill until the thrill-seekers’ adventure is complete.
I hope that this helps you, Holly! If you have any additional Disney vacation planning questions, please
revisit us here at planDisney. Any of the panelists would love to share their stories and tips with you.
Magic always,
LeAndra
