What restaurants help you set up for a family celebration, that are not in the main area of the actual restaurant? Could you provide a small cake? What do you guys offer for the rooms? This is for a 43 year old man.

    Welcome to planDisney, Sabrina!

Disney dining is my love language so I'm happy to help!

You'll find plenty of restaurants on Walt Disney World Resort property perfect for a birthday celebration. I'll be celebrating my own 43rd lap around the sun there this fall and I've penciled in Toledo - Tapas, Steak & Seafood at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort for a special dinner. To my knowledge, this venue does not offer a private space, but the ambiance is warm and inviting. My family also dined at Cítricos at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa a few years ago and enjoyed spectacular service and an elegant menu in the main dining area. There is a private sommelier room (featuring Mary Poppins' umbrella) that we admired on our way out, which offers a multi-course specialty menu for parties of 4-8. This experience can only be booked by email at WDW.Citricos@disney.com.

In my research, I discovered that Shula's Steak House at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel features a mahogany paneled Hall of Fame Private Dining Room, which can be booked by calling (407) 934-1609 or filling out the private dining request form linked on this page. The hotel has private dining at a few of its other restaurants as well.

Many of these private rooms come with a significant time and monetary investment, so they might not be the right fit if you have a smaller party or lots of young guests in your group. There are many special places to dine at some of the other Disney Resort Collection hotels, some of which even offer a fireworks view if you time your meal just right. I shared my favorites with another guest earlier this year, but I'd also consider adding Flying Fish on Disney's BoardWalk and Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney's Yacht Club Resort to your list as well. Wine Bar George at Disney Springs is another personal favorite and dining on the second floor or out on the terrace would be a nice setting for your group. You can email info@winebargeorge.com for reservation assistance for groups of 7 or more.

Reservations for most locations can be made online 60 days in advance, so you are within your booking window. When making your reservation you'll have the option to add a Celebration Cake to your meal. These feed 4-6 guests and I can confirm they are quite yummy.

If you are looking for a dining spot inside the parks I'd recommend Tiffins Restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. A group of panelists and I dined there last fall and loved the atmosphere and menu. At Magic Kingdom Park, Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen also offers adventurous cuisine in a fun atmosphere. The main dining area can be a bit loud but you can request to eat in the S.E.A Room. I can't guarantee availability, but this would offer a more quiet, private feel for your celebration.

Sabrina, I could go on and on but I'm running out of room. Please feel free to write me directly for more recommendations.

    Magic and memories,
    Amy
