Hi Elizabeth!
Welcome back to planDisney!
While
Steakhouse 71 does not have a dedicated area to view Magic Kingdom’s fireworks, there is an observation deck that is usually open to the public, located on the 4th floor of the Contemporary.
California Grill, on the other hand, does have a dedicated observation deck for its guests. And the view from there is very cool since it’s on the 15th floor of the Contemporary.
Last time I dined there, we had an early dinner, and our server let us know that we were more than welcome to return to the restaurant later that evening to view the fireworks from the observation deck. During your dinner, the staff will give you all the details on how to access the observation deck if you’ll be returning later.
I also learned a fun fact while dining at California Grill! This restaurant first opened more than 30 years ago and was the very first signature dining experience at Disney World. There were even still items on the menu from opening night! Knowing about the restaurant’s history made for an extra special dining experience.
It’s good to note that you can view the fireworks at any of the resorts along the
Monorail line, which include the
Contemporary,
Polynesian, and
Grand Floridian. So, if you want to have dinner at the Contemporary but switch up the vibe for fireworks, you’re more than welcome to.
And if you want to splurge, I can’t say enough great things about the
fireworks cruises! They're definitely worth looking into if you're hoping for something special.
Finally, make sure to check the
Hours & Events Calendar to see the showtime for the fireworks on the night you want to watch them. I’d plan to get to where you’re going early, so you can snag a good view.
I hope that helps! If you have any other questions, let us know!
