We have reservations to DL tomorrow, but my son is sick. What is the absolute latest we can modify our reservations?

Hi there, Mary, and welcome to planDisney.

Thanks for submitting your question to us and I'm so sorry to hear that your son isn't feeling well. I certainly hope that you both will still be able to enjoy New Year's Eve despite this. The rules around modifying a park reservation are a little different for standard tickets vs. Magic Key Passes. I'm guessing you have a standard ticket, but I'll go over both just for reference.

    • Standard Theme Park Ticket: You have until 11:59 PM Pacific Time the night before the reservation to modify your park reservation to another date or Park. If you miss the reservation and your ticket is still valid, the reservation will just go back into your account for you to reschedule. You'll just have to wait until 12:00 AM the next day to make a new reservation. As an aside, New Year's Eve is a very popular night. If you modify from that night, you will be unlikely to get it back should you change your mind.
    • Magic Key Pass: Again, you have until 11:59 PM Pacific Time the night before but there is a No-Show Policy for Magic Key holders. If they accumulate 3 no-shows in a 90 day period, they will be unable to make new park reservations for 30 days.

I hope that your son feels better soon, Mary. If you both find yourselves resting in your hotel room on New Year's Eve and feel like taking in a movie, the Disney Parks Blog posted 10 fun movie suggestions to watch and even gives you the time to begin the movie so the climactic moment syncs up with midnight/New Year!

Fun Fact: Disneyland Park held its first New Year's Eve Celebration Party on December 31, 1957 and it drew a crowd of 7,500 Guests! It was a separately ticketed event that cost $3.95.

Mary, I wish you and your son the best as you shift your plans but I hope you both have a magical New Year's Eve at The Happiest Place on Earth! Please write us anytime you have more questions because we're always happy to help and we'd love to hear back from you!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
