Hi, Denny, thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!
I am also a
Magic Key holder who went through the renewal process within the last month, so I appreciate your wanting to understand the renewal process. The renewal window opens 30 days before your current Magic Key pass's expiration date. You must renew before the current pass expires to guarantee another year of park visits and
Disneyland magic. When you take advantage of the Magic Key monthly payment option (available to California Residents) at renewal, you enter into a new agreement for the year so your payment date will change to within a day or so of renewing. My renewal confirmation email stated: "The first payment will be charged later today or shortly thereafter." So, yes, Denny your monthly payment date will change depending on when you renew.
The expiration date of your renewed pass will not necessarily align with this new monthly payment date, as your renewal pass will begin the day after your current pass expires. You can renew the pass online or in person at the Disneyland Main Ticket booth.
I hope this answers your question, Denny. Please let me know if you have any other questions - Magic Key and Beyond! - I would be happy to help!
See you in the parks,
Melissa
