Hi there, Mania,
First, I am so sorry to hear about your injury! This bump in the road won't last forever, but I know how physically and emotionally challenging an injury can be to a runner with a goal. Take care of yourself.
As a registered participant in the
runDisney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend Two Course Challenge, you can still pick up your official race bib, participant t-shirts, and swag at the
runDisney Health and Fitness Expo, toe the start line and complete the
Disney Wine & Dine 10K, and then evaluate whether a second race start makes sense for you the next day. If you do not complete the
Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon, you will not have the opportunity to pick up the final two medals. There is no additional penalty for being unable to complete the challenge as planned.
Mania, I've been in your (running) shoes. One Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, I was all set for the Disney Fairytale Challenge. While I completed the
Disney Princess 10K with my pals, a foot injury forced me to skip the second day. I was devastated. However, I want you to know that I healed and came back stronger. I've since run in many races. Remember, a runner might be down, but they're never out.
Even if you can't run, you can still be part of the magic. On race day, head out to cheer for your friends and other runners. Keeping the runDisney spirit alive is good for you. Offer fistbumps, use their bib personalization to cheer strangers on by name, and ring a bell. Your encouragement can make a world of difference. Your turn will come again, and it always feels great to make exhausted runners smile!
I'll be cheering for YOU from a distance, Mania!
Come on back and let us know if you have any other questions. planDisney is here for you.
Adventure is out there,
Sally
