Can you reassign a Disneyland magic band to a Walt Disney World?

Hi Troy, and welcome to planDisney! MagicBands are an incredibly useful tool for navigating the theme parks and there’s even more you can do with them at Disney World.

I’ve used my MagicBand+ interchangeably between Disneyland and Disney World, which lets you really maximize the value! To link a MagicBand for the Most Magical Place on Earth, open Disney World’s My Disney Experience app and go to the ☰ in the lower right corner. Select MagicBands & Cards under Account and go to Link Your MagicBand or Card. Here you can tap your MagicBand to associate it with your MyDisney account.

There’s an important difference between linking MagicBands in the Disneyland and Disney World apps. For Disney World, once you link a MagicBand to a specific person, it can’t be reassigned to someone else. It’s theirs forever! This works differently at Disneyland where you can link and unlink MagicBands to associate them with tickets or Magic Key passes held by different people.

In addition to the MagicBand+ functionality you’re used to at Disneyland, like scanning into theme park and Lightning Lane entrances, linking PhotoPass pictures, playing Batuu Bounty Hunters, and enhancing nighttime spectaculars with lights and vibrations, there are a few additional things you can do with your MagicBand at Disney World!

If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel, MagicBands can be used to open your hotel room door and charge food and merchandise purchases to the credit card on file. It’s so convenient to use my MagicBand, instead of pulling out a room key or phone, when I get back to my room after a long park day!

MagicBand+ will also interact with the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection statues throughout the Disney World theme parks! It always sprinkles a bit of extra pixie dust on my day, especially when I spot my favorite Disney pals.

With so much to do with your MagicBand+, my recommendation is to bring your charger and a portable battery with you into the parks. I usually do a mid-day recharge during lunch so my MagicBand+ battery lasts until the nighttime spectaculars. I love how the lights and vibrations make it feel like you’re right in the middle of the shows!

I hope this sets you up for a magical Disney World vacation! If you have any other questions, we’d love to have you back at planDisney.
