I have a question about lightning lanes. Can our group split lightning lanes if within the hour timeframe? Can 2 of us go at a different time than the other 2 if within the hour for the same ride?

Howdy, Ashley, and thanks for stopping by planDisney today! Your Walt Disney World Resort adventure is hurtling toward you at, well, lightning speed. I'm thrilled to help you plan your strategy for enjoying attractions with your family, so let's jump right in.

I booked Lightning Lane Multi Passes this morning for a ladies' trip I have next week, so they're fresh on my mind. I was able to book mine 7 days in advance because we're staying at a Disney resort hotel. All other guests can purchase 3 days in advance. My first tip is to set an alarm so you can book when your window first opens at 7:00 AM EST. Some of the more in-demand rides will book up quickly!

Your initial three selections must be at the same time and for the same attractions for all members of your party. Each ride you book will have a 1-hour return window, but not every member of your party needs to scan in at the same time. So if two folks in your group want to ride as soon as the return window opens, while two more would rather grab a DOLE® Whip first, you can do that!

You can also modify attractions and return times after your initial purchase, so your group will have lots of flexibility, even before you arrive!

Keep in mind that you can select a new attraction as soon as you've scanned in for one. So if two people decide to wait a bit before riding the first one, you'll need to wait until all four guests have scanned in before selecting the next ride. You could also let the other two make their own selection for their next ride since you don't all have to choose the same ones throughout the day. Did I mention flexibility?!

On a recent visit, my son decided to sleep in and come to the park a little later, so my husband and I rode our first ride without him. He texted me as soon as he'd scanned in at the ride so I could hop on my mobile app and book our next one together. I'm typically the Lightning Lane booker, but guests can also book individually after their first ride.

If you have any issues while you're at the park, feel free to stop by any blue umbrella, where the Guest Experience Team will be happy to help. Those Cast Members are like your personal Fairy Godparents!

Ashley, here's hoping for a practically perfect visit! Please stop by planDisney anytime!

    Magic awaits,
