We have our purchased park tickets for our visit next week. Looking to buy lightning passes. Do I have to use my phone app, or can I use a desktop computer?

Greetings, Amanda, and welcome to planDisney! Your Walt Disney World Resort visit is just a few sleeps away, so I hope your Minnie ears are packed. I have yet to try the new Lightning Lane pass system, but I'm happy to research it. Let's see how the purchasing and booking processes will work while you're in the magic. Here we goooo!

I checked with a helpful Cast Member who confirmed that Lightning Lane purchases and bookings must be made through the My Disney Experience mobile app. Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels can begin that process seven days before they arrive, and all other guests can purchase and select Lightning Lane passes three days in advance.

To get started, be sure you have the latest version of the app and are signed into your account. Tap the three lines in the bottom right corner and select the Lightning Lane Passes tile. You'll see options to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass; follow the prompts to schedule your first three Multi Pass selections or up to two Single Pass experiences. If you need help during the purchasing or booking process, please don't hesitate to call the Website Support line.

My favorite feature is that when your window opens, you can book passes for the length of your stay. This is a welcome improvement for planners like us! I can't wait to try the new system when I visit next month. Maybe I can ask for your advice!

Amanda, I hope your visit is full of lightning-quick fun. I'm thinking happy thoughts for a soaring adventure! Remember that planDisney is always here to help.

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
