Hey there, Emily, and welcome to planDisney!
Congratulations on getting yourself a top-tier
Magic Key Pass! The demand for a new Magic Key is really something else, so count yourself lucky that you were able to get through the process! I'm really excited for you to begin a year long journey full of Magic that will take you back to the Disneyland Resort again and again.
In response to your question, Emily, the
Magic Key Terms and Conditions statement that you read is still valid. If you made a new Magic Key purchase (i.e., not a renewal), then it will not be active until you use it to either enter one of the Theme Parks or use it for a fully paid parking entry at one of the Disneyland Resort parking lots. Once activated, it will expire one year after that and your renewal window will begin 30 days before that date. If you do not activate your Magic Key within a year of purchase, then it will expire. Personally, I took a month and a half before I was able to activate my Pass, but it was comforting to know that I had a year to do so.
Now that you can count yourself as a Magic Key Holder, be sure to look over the Magic Key Portal in the
Disneyland Mobile App whenever you visit! I also recommend following the
Magic Key Instagram account because I love hearing about all the Magic Shots and special merchandise that's offered only to us!
Fun Fact: Did you know that the
Magic Key Terrace actually has a backstory to it? It's supposed to be a hacienda that was purchased by a young couple who wanted to keep its old world charm but add some contemporary elements to it (according to Disney Imagineer Kim Irvine). It even pays homage to one of the Park's beloved feral cats who used to frequent the location.
Emily, I hope that you found this response helpful and that you have fun planning your year of Magic! If you need anything further from us, please come by again because we'd love to hear from you. Until next time!
Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!
