If I purchase a LL Premier pass and a After Hours event starts at 9PM is that the cut off to use it?

Welcome to planDisney, Ben! I’m happy to help you make the most of your Lightning Lane Premier Pass and plan around those After Hours event details.

You are correct. Lightning Lane Premier Pass access (along with Lightning Lane Multi Pass) is available only during regular park operating hours. If an After Hours event begins at 9:00 PM, that typically marks the end of Lightning Lane access for guests who are not attending the event.

However, one of the biggest advantages of Lightning Lane Premier Pass is the flexibility it offers. Unlike Multi Pass, there’s no need to select return times. You can simply head to a Lightning Lane entrance whenever you’re ready to ride, which makes it especially helpful on a day with an earlier park closing. You’re able to move at your own pace and fit in attractions as your day unfolds.

Another great benefit is that Premier Pass includes access to Lightning Lane attractions in both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. If one park closes early due to a special event, you can hop over to the other park (as long as it remains open to regular guests) and continue using your pass there.

Once you’ve entered either park, you can find your Premier Pass in the Disneyland app by heading to “Today’s Plans” and looking under the “My Day” section. That’s where you’ll see eligible attractions and track which ones you’ve already experienced.

If you’re looking to get the most value out of your day, here’s my favorite Q-Tip: start early and be intentional with your pacing. With an earlier evening cutoff, those first few hours are golden. It’s a great time to enjoy favorites like Radiator Springs Racers or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with minimal waits, then continue working your way through top attractions using Lightning Lane as the day builds. Think of it like getting a head start before the park hits its full stride.

Ben, I hope this helps you feel confident as you plan your day. With a little early momentum and that built-in flexibility, you’ll be set up for a fantastic visit.  If more questions pop up as you plan, please don’t hesitate to stop by planDisney again. We’re always delighted to help you make the most of every magical moment.

    Have an unforgettable visit!
