Hi there, Debra!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney. You have definitely come to the right place to get you started on your Disney World vacation planning journey. Collectively, we panelists have seen it all and done it all at The Most Magical Place on Earth. I’m more than happy to help!
The Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass options (kind of similar to the former FastPass+ system) help to bypass the standby queues of Disney attractions. A Multi Pass gives you access to many rides’ Lightning Lanes across the theme parks. Meanwhile, a Single Pass is a pass for individual (very popular) attractions—it’s like an à la carte option. With both, you’ll find yourself in a prioritized position in the queues. Woohoo!
You can purchase Lightning Lane passes in the
My Disney Experience app. When you open the app, it will say “Lightning Lanes Multi Pass/ Single Pass” right at the top of the main page. Click on “Purchase” to buy the passes. But when does your booking window open? If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass and/or Single Pass up to 7 days before your check-in day. Of course, you’ll also need a linked theme park ticket to do so. If you’re staying off property, your window will open 3 days before your visit. These windows begin at 7 a.m. EST.
Speaking of tickets, there aren’t any special rates for senior citizens at the moment. But take a look at the
Special Offers ticket page. You may find other ways that you qualify for discounts (like being a Disney+ subscriber or a Florida resident like me). And kids under the age of 3 years old? They are Guests of Mickey and don’t need a ticket at all!
AN EXTRA GEM: If you need more information about
how Lightning Lanes work, I recommend that you check out the official Disney World webpage that’s dedicated to all-things-fast-access. There are some pretty cool perks with the passes, too, like free digital photo downloads of your memories.
Debra, please don't hesitate if you have any other questions before, during, or after your upcoming Disney World vacation. Any of the
planDisney panelists are more than happy to share their tips and tricks with you.
Magic always,
LeAndra
