Aloha, Darlene, and welcome to planDisney!
There's nothing like taking it easy with a tropical drink in hand and surrounded by good company. You would be surprised by how many fun people you'll meet in the cozy quarters of
Trader Sam's Grotto. The Cast Members' hilarious antics and the interactive environment make this grotto one of my favorite lounges in all of Disney World.
You aren't finding any availability for Trader Sam's because, unfortunately, you can't make advance reservations. But there is indeed a waitlist. You can find this in-person walk-up list at the
Polynesian Village Resort near the quick-service restaurant
Capt. Cook's. It's at the end of a hallway that leads to an exit door. To the right, you can't miss the sign for the tucked-away cove. Open the door, take in the vibes, and add your name to the waitlist. They will message you when it's your turn. The in-person walk-up list is first come, first served, and of course, this also depends on how many people are in your crew.
One of the newer ways to grab a seat at Trader Sam's is via the
My Disney Experience app Mobile Walk-Up List. Once you're pretty close to the grotto, search for it in the app and look for an icon for joining its digital list. Although you still need to be nearby, it's still a good option to get ahead of other Guests approaching the host.
AN EXTRA GEM: The earlier you can get to Trader Sam's, the better. The list grows quickly, especially on the weekends because locals like me are trying to get into the oasis. While you wait for your table to be ready, consider checking out the other Polynesian area's watering holes like
Wailulu Bar & Grill. It has some of the best views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and the
Magic Kingdom fireworks.
Darlene, I hope that you enjoy your time at the Polynesian and beyond. Disney World, like Trader Sam's, is full of happy surprises. If you have any other questions about your upcoming vacation,
give us a holler here at planDisney!
Magic always,
LeAndra
