Howdy, Connie, and welcome to the wildest ride in the wilderness—planDisney! I'm happy to answer your question about your upcoming
Walt Disney World Resort vacation, so saddle up!
Electronic Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs) are a fabulous way to get around the theme parks, and renting one at the entrance is a breeze. I chatted with a cowboy Cast Member who said you must show your ID or driver's license to rent the device, but you will not leave it with them. You can keep your ID close at hand, so no worries!
So that you know, you'll be charged the cost of the ECV for the day plus a damage deposit. Once the scooter is returned undamaged, the deposit will be refunded. The refund could take a few days, depending on your bank's processing time. But all your cards and ID will stay safely with you, Connie.
Since those ECVs look similar, my tip is to bring along a brightly colored ribbon so you can spot yours easily. You'll be given a nametag, but a festive ribbon will add sparkle to your ride! I used to do that when renting a stroller for my son many years ago.
My final recommendation is to check out the
Services for Guests with Mobility Needs information for tips about using your ECV at the theme parks. You'll find out about transportation options, maneuvering queues, and more. I used a wheelchair at
Magic Kingdom Park once, and the Cast Members were always helpful and kind; be sure to ask them any questions you have.
Connie, I hope your upcoming visit is a rootin'-tootin' good time. Please stop by
planDisney for any tips or advice about your visit. Yee-haw!
Magic awaits,
Elaine
