Is it possible to use some DVC points and pay a cash difference if you do not have enough DVC points available to cover the reservation you want to make?

Hi, Dawn-welcome to planDisney! Thanks so much for bringing your Disney Vacation Club question our way. Let me just adjust my mouse ears...and away we go!

Math was never my favorite subject in school, but when it comes to Disney Vacation Club math I'm always laser-focused on how to best use our Vacation Points to get the most our of our Membership! I see that you're a bit short on Vacation Points to book the reservation you're hoping for. Never fear--there are a couple of different solutions available that may work for you.

All Members are eligible to purchase up to 24 additional, one-time-use points per Use Year. I recently found myself in need of a few extra Vacation Points and accessed this benefit of Membership for the first time--it was quite easy to do. The one-time-use points are currently priced at $20/point and there are a couple of things to know before you book:
    • One-time-use points can only be used in your 7-month booking window, so you cannot apply these to make a reservation at a Home Resort in the priority window (7 months to 11 months).
    • You must purchase the points at the time you make the reservation. You'll need to call the friendly folks at Member Services to complete the transaction.
    • Once you purchase these points, they can't be borrowed, banked, or transferred. The points will expire at the end of the Use Year if not used.
You can also have Vacation Points transferred to you by another Member.  A DVC Member may transfer Vacation Points to another Member once a year. As with the one-time-use scenario, the transferred Vacation Points can only be used for booking Disney Vacation Club accommodations in the 7-month booking window. To complete this transaction, you'll need to call Member Services and have the individual transferring the points on the call as well.

Dawn, I hope that one of these options will work for you so that you can book the vacation you've been dreaming of! If you're looking for any more tips regarding your Disney Vacation Club Membership, please visit us again at planDisney.
