Hi! Can you please explain Lightning Lane use with rider swap? When the 1st adult rides with a kid do they BOTH need a LL pass or just the adult? Am I correct that on the rider swap the 2nd adult and child then do not need a LL pass? Thank you!!

Welcome back to planDisney Amanda! It sounds like you're gearing up for an exciting adventure at Walt Disney World, and I’d be happy to help clarify how Rider Switch Service works with Lightning Lane. It’s a fantastic option for families with little ones who may not meet the height requirement or prefer to skip certain attractions, ensuring that everyone still gets a chance to ride without waiting twice as long.

Over the holidays, my family and I had a magical time at Disney World! With a preschooler in tow who wasn’t always able to join us on certain attractions, we made great use of Rider Switch to ensure everyone still got a chance to experience the rides. When using Rider Swap with Lightning Lane, the first group (Adult 1 and the child who is riding) must have a Lightning Lane pass to enter the queue. The second group (Adult 2 and potentially another child) does not need a separate Lightning Lane pass, as Rider Swap allows them to ride without an additional reservation.

Here is how the process works step by step:
    1. The entire party approaches the ride entrance and speaks to a Cast Member to request Rider Swap.
    2. Adult 1 and the child with the Lightning Lane pass enter the queue and ride first.
    3. Adult 2 is issued a Rider Swap pass and waits with the child who is not riding.
    4. Once Adult 1 finishes, Adult 2 can use the Rider Swap pass to enter through the Lightning Lane without needing a separate pass. They may bring one additional guest (typically the child who rode first) if the attraction allows it.

This process allows both adults to ride while minimizing wait times. Just remember that everyone in the first group must have a Lightning Lane reservation if they want to use the Lightning Lane. Hope this helps, and have a magical visit!
