Hiya, George, and thanks so much for sending this great question my way! My whole family is plant-based, and I'm happy to report that
Walt Disney World Resort offers many delicious options for us. Since food is my favorite topic, let's dig in!
Most Disney-owned restaurants have a plant-based designation on their menus, so look for the green plant icon or the phrase "plant-based" in the dish description. I've also found that many items can be made vegetarian or vegan, so ask your server for recommendations that might not be listed. Many quick service and table service locations now
offer plant-based options, so hooray for having choices!
Some of my family's specific recommendations are restaurants with family-style service. My son's pick for a filling platter of yummy food is
Roundup Rodeo BBQ at Disney's Hollywood Studios. While specific food can change, we enjoyed the Combat Cauliflower and Scrumptious Bratwurst on a recent visit. The best part is your server will bring more of anything you like! Just watch out for visits from Andy; that can really put a "freeze" on things.
If you're not a fan of alternative meats, my go-to is the
Chili-Spiced Crispy Fried Tofu Bowl at Satu'li Canteen at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. It's got a kick! My husband's sentimental favorite is the
Spaghetti and Impossible™ Meatballs at Tony's Town Square Restaurant at Magic Kingdom Park. And if you're hankering for a light lunch, the
Niçoise-style Salad at Connections Eatery in EPCOT is yummy.
You can review menus online where plant-based items are clearly marked, but my favorite way is to use the My Disney Experience Mobile App. When you
mobile order a quick-service meal, you can sort to see a list of all plant-based offerings at that location. From the Welcome screen, tap the "Order Food" tile and select a restaurant. Tap "Order Food" and choose your arrival time. On the menu screen, scroll to the "Plant-Based" icon for a list of items to choose from!
My family often places our lunch order a few hours in advance. When we arrive at the restaurant, we tap "I'm here! Prepare my order;" we get a notification the second our meal is up. Do I feel guilty walking past all the people waiting in line to order? Nope. Not at all!
George, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the selection of plant-based options on your next Disney vacation. The only problem is choosing. Just ask my waistline!

Magic awaits,
