Hi there, Christina!
Ten days in The Most Magical Place on Earth sounds practically perfect, so I'm delighted you stopped by planDisney to discuss your upcoming visit. Let's get to it!
March is my favorite time of the year to visit Walt Disney World Resort. You'll typically find that days are longer, the temperatures are higher, and the
EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival is in full bloom. Because there's so much to love about March in The Most Magical Place on Earth, you'll find that it's a fairly popular time for Guests to visit.
In 2026,
runDisney's
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend will take place between February 26 and March 2. While 5K runners typically arrive before the race weekend begins, some half marathoners linger after the race weekend concludes to celebrate in the theme parks. Happily, your arrival date means that you won't be impacted by any race-related road closures!
March also typically includes several dance and cheer competitions hosted at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. Specific dates change each year, but you can check the '
Events' page of the website for an idea of what you can expect. While these competitions do bring an influx of Guests with them, athletes tend to stay at Disney Value Resort hotels. Since I see that you're hoping to stay at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, it shouldn't impact your experience.
One final factor that might influence the number of Guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort in March is the school calendar. Many schools are on Spring Break in March, so families tend to use this break to enjoy the Florida sun and make magical memories together.
Of course, just because you're sharing the parks with fellow Mousketeers doesn't mean they are any less magical. As a teacher, my schedule requires that I typically visit Walt Disney World when schools are not in session, so I'm happy to share a few of my strategies for maximizing time and minimizing waits!
- Arrive Early - Make the most of the morning hours by arriving before the theme park opens for the day. This will give you time to take photos, enjoy a cup of coffee, and take advantage of the shorter wait times in the morning.
- Purchase Lightning Lane Passes - Lightning Lane Passes will allow you to save time as you bypass the wait of standby queues for some of Walt Disney World's most popular attractions. Purchasing these for each day of your vacation can quickly add up, so I suggest maximizing their value by purchasing Multi Pass only on days you plan to spend the entire time in the theme parks.
- Take advantage of benefits available to Guests of Disney Resort hotels - Early Theme Park Entry allows Guests to enter the theme parks 30 minutes before all other Guests and Extended Evening Theme Park Hours are available on select evenings for Guests of Deluxe Hotels (like the Polynesian) to spend a bit of extra time in the theme parks.
- Be Flexible - If your theme park ticket has the Park Hopper Option, don't be afraid to pivot. If you see that wait times in your current park are a bit high, use the My Disney Experience app to check them elsewhere and then head somewhere that seems to be a bit less popular.
- Enjoy a midday break - If I ever feel that I'm becoming overwhelmed in the theme parks, I head back to my Disney Resort hotel. The Polynesian is a perfect place to relax with a Dole Whip, take a dip in the pool, and enjoy views of Cinderella Castle.
I hope this helps you plan, Christina. If you need any additional information or advice feel free to stop back by!
Thinking Happy Thoughts,
Lizzie
