Hello! I am planning on taking my baby boy next year for his birthday #2 for the first time ever Since it’s during Halloween season, how much in advance should I buy tickets? Where can I get the first time at Disney and birthday pin for him?

I'm singing "Happy Birthday" to your soon-to-be two year old, Grecia! It's an absolute treat to welcome you to planDisney, where my fellow panelists and I share our favorite tricks and tips. Halloween season at Walt Disney World is pure magic, and I love seeing the pumpkins, fall leaves, and other seasonal decor at the theme parks and resorts. I actually visited Magic Kingdom on Halloween back in 2022, and my daughter was just over two years old at the time. I'd be glad to help you plan an autumnal vacation and birthday celebration.

To begin, the perfect time to purchase your tickets is when you have confirmed your travel dates and have your hotel room secured. I typically combine my Disney Resort hotel and theme park tickets together into a vacation package, as that streamlines the booking process and I know I am getting exactly what I need. If you are booking your resort and tickets separately, you can wait to purchase your tickets until a later date. I went onto the Disney World website and saw that I could purchase park tickets well into 2027, so just know that they are available to you now if you're ready to cross that item off your to-do list.

Now, let's talk about how to best celebrate the birthday boy! You are already aware of the complimentary first visit and birthday celebration buttons that are available to guests, and there are quite a few places to pick them up. You can ask a Cast Member at the front desk of your resort, at Guest Relations locations, or at most merchandise locations, and they will be happy to supply you with one or both buttons. One of our top planDisney tips is to take your button to Ye Olde Christmas Shop and they will beautify your button with custom calligraphy for a small fee.

I also recommend exploring a purchase of Memory Maker so you can look back on all the wonderful pictures Disney PhotoPass photographers will capture over the course of your vacation. It's a great way to have additional keepsakes from this milestone birthday trip!

I know you and your son are going to have an incredible amount of fun on his first Disney World trip, Grecia! I hope that traveling to The Most Magical Place on Earth becomes a tradition for your family like it has for mine; watching my kids grow up surrounded by the wonder and enchantment that only a Disney vacation can provide has been an amazing gift. If you think of more questions as you plan your visit, please come ask us at planDisney! We'd love to lend a helping hand.

    Stay magical,
    Scott
