Hi! I am planning on doing horseback riding at the Ford Wilderness resort. I am reading information about this and see that Shoes with back strap are required? What does this mean? Will I be ok with wearing Nike sneakers?

Welcome to planDisney, Stan! Are you getting so excited about your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World Resort? Horseback riding at The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort is a fantastic way to enjoy the great outdoors and some awesome scenic trails. There are some requirements in place to ensure that everyone has a fun and safe ride, and I'm happy to walk you through what kind of footwear is permitted.

Stan, sneakers are perfectly acceptable footwear for your horseback riding experience. "Shoes with a back strap" simply means that slip-on shoes without a back are not permitted. Sneakers and other types of shoes that cover the whole foot are permitted, so you're good to go! You'll be provided with a locker to store your belongings during your ride, so you can bring different shoes along if you wanted to change afterward.

Since you'll be visiting The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, you should stop by Trail's End Restaurant or Crockett's Tavern! They have both recently been reimagined with new menus and new dining experiences, and either one is the perfect place to whet your whistle after your trail ride.

    Have a magical day, Stan!
