Jodi,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
Getting from
Disney's BoardWalk to Fort Wilderness does require some planning, but the trip can actually be somewhat fun! Here is how I would get there.
Step 1: From Disney's BoardWalk, grab a bus headed to the Magic Kingdom. You can do this from any of the resort hotels, but obviously, the one at
Disney's BoardWalk Inn will be the most convenient. The ride should take about 20 minutes.
Step 2: Once you arrive at the Magic Kingdom bus depot, walk over to the boat docks that are directly in front of the park gates. From there you can catch a boat that will take you to Fort Wilderness. The boat ride should take about 15 minutes.
NOTE: No, you are not going to have to enter the Magic Kingdom or use a park admission to go from boat to bus.
BONUS TIPWhile you visit Fort Wilderness, make sure you visit the
Settlement Trading Post, near the marina. This resort store has some fun souvenirs, including resort-specific shirts. Another great stop is to visit the newly updated
Tri-Circle-D Ranch at Fort Wilderness. It is a beautiful set of stables, and if the timing is right you could catch a pony ride!
