Hi there, Tonia!
Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your
Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question! "Here you leave today and enter a world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy." Soon, your family will be immersed in the magic of the Walt Disney World Resort! I can't imagine a more special place for your child's wish to come true, and I'm happy to help connect you with the best planning resources available.
The wonder of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation begins as soon as a Guest books their visit, because the planning is part of the fun! Tonia, the Walt Disney World Resort no longer provides Guests with physical copies of planning materials, likely due to sustainability efforts. However, I'd like to share a few suggestions to help get your child involved in the excitement of the planning process!:
- Consider ordering MagicBand+ for your travel party. If your family will be staying at an eligible Disney Resort hotel, you can order MagicBands at a reduced pre-arrival rate for delivery to your home address. Receiving that package lets the family know that the countdown is on, and is like opening up a little box of pixie dust!
- Tune in to shows on Disney+ that showcase Disney Parks, like "Magic of Disney's Animal Kingdom" and "Decorating Disney: Holiday Magic." My family also likes to watch movies that are represented in the theme parks, like Toy Story, Peter Pan, Ratatouille, and Avatar, so it's even more exciting when we see these attractions when we arrive on-site!
- Designate some time for planning your trip together with your child. During these times, sit down together at the computer and access the many virtual planning resources available, such as online maps and the Tickets & Visit Guide. Mapping out your child's "must-dos" during these planning periods will help you plan out your daily itineraries!
- It looks like you'll be visiting during the most magical time of the year, Tonia. Your family is in for a real treat, because there's no place like the Walt Disney World Resort during the holiday season! I encourage you to explore available holiday offerings (like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and visiting the gingerbread displays at select Disney Resort hotels) and try to build some of these experiences into your visit, if possible.
Tonia, I hope you've found this information helpful. I'm wishing your family an unforgettable visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth! If there are any other planning questions we can help out with, feel free to revisit
planDisney anytime. We're here to help you make the most of your Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
Warm wishes,
Lauren
