When a photo is uploaded from the photographer to the app, is that time stamp from when the photo was taken or does it show the time that it was uploaded to the app?

    Welcome, Alyssa!

It’s great to see you here at planDisney with insightful questions about your images taken by the wonderful Disney PhotoPass photographers around the Walt Disney World Resort. I love the Memory Maker product which allows me to have downloads of all images taken throughout my vacation. I’m happy to explain what you’ll see and experience when having your picture taken on your upcoming vacation.

You’re correct in that all images do not appear instantly within the My Disney Experience App for viewing. Once taken, the images are reviewed and finalized by a special team and then soon available in your account. This process ensures that your images are as intended and allows for any Magic Shots to be finalized. When you select an image under Photos in the My Disney Experience App, the description reads “captured” and the specific date and time. The background process to have the images available in your account can vary, but the captured timestamp is consistent with your vacation experience for tracking those memories.

Please see this recent answer I provided another Guest regarding the metadata – all the additional details of the image files that are available when you do the full download of your files from the Walt Disney World Resort website. Similarly, the specific date and time when the photo was taken is captured and saved for your long-term reference.

Be sure and follow Disney PhotoPass Service on social to see all the special Magic Shots currently available, Alyssa. I love to plan my next visit with a list of these fun image locations around the theme parks, resorts, and Disney Springs. A special set is also currently available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, if you’re planning to attend. These unique images of our time spent together on a Disney vacation are so fun to share, and something that sets these trips apart from other vacation destinations. On your next visit, keep an eye out for the special photography team in their new bright green gear

I hope this helps you understand what to expect for your magical memories captured by Disney PhotoPass, or to decipher a past trip’s files. Please let us know what other questions you may have, we’re here to help!

    Say cheese,
