Hi there, Jennifer! Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for stopping by with your question. It sounds like you’re planning a fantastic trip with a little springtime magic in the mix!
When it comes to the
runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend, road closures and early morning races may cause minor disruptions to transportation, but Disney does a wonderful job managing traffic flow. If you're staying on property, using Disney’s complimentary transportation on race mornings can help you avoid potential delays and keep your vacation stress-free!
The official course maps haven’t been released yet, but based on last year’s event, here’s what you can likely expect:
• Friday (5K): Runs from approximately 5:00–7:30 a.m. Last year, this race was held in and around EPCOT, and it finished early enough that there was little to no impact on park access.
• Saturday (10K): Runs from approximately 5:00–7:45 a.m. The course typically starts and ends in the EPCOT parking lot, taking runners backstage, through World Showcase, and around Crescent Lake. Again, the race is likely to finish before the parks open, so delays should be minimal.
• Sunday (10-Miler): Runs from approximately 5:00–9:00 a.m. Based on previous years, this race starts and ends in EPCOT, with runners passing through Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Crescent Lake, and World Showcase. This event may affect rope-dropping
EPCOT or
Disney’s Hollywood Studios, especially during
Early Entry. If those parks are part of your morning plans, I’d recommend allowing extra time for transportation—or plan to visit them later in the day after the races finish.
Springtime Surprise is the smallest of the runDisney race weekends, so its overall impact on park crowds and transportation is relatively minor. And don’t forget—your visit coincides with the
EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival! Between the stunning topiaries and delicious bites at the Outdoor Kitchens, it’s a must-see event. When you get closer to your trip, be sure to check out the Foodie Guide on the Disney Parks Blog to start planning your festival favorites (here's
last year's to give you an idea).
One final note: If you’re considering a splash-tastic adventure, keep in mind that Typhoon Lagoon is hosting the Springtime Surprise Splash after-party on Sunday evening, so it might be busier that day.
I hope this helps you plan a smooth and magical visit, Jennifer! Let us know if you have any other questions—we’re always happy to help.
Wishing you a vacation filled with magic and miles of smiles,
Eean
