Ahoy, Kevin! Thanks for sailing back to planDisney with another great question. It sounds like you’ve got a
spook-tacular Halloween on the High Seas sailing coming up on the
Disney Wish!
The Wish is such a stunning ship. I especially love the Grand Hall, where you’ll find “Boo,” the ship’s special Pumpkin Tree, and hear the story of how it’s connected to Cinderella’s coach. I sailed on the Wish last fall with my friend
Kami, who uses a wheelchair, and she shared some great tips that might help you, too.
Most areas of the ship are very accessible, including all the main dining rooms. Space can be a bit tight in certain restaurants, especially at 1923, so in many cases, you can park your scooter just outside the entrance or in a designated area nearby if you’re able to walk a short distance to your table. If that’s not an option, you can usually drive your scooter right to your seat, and your server will be happy to move it to a safe spot while you dine. In most locations, the check-in podium area is used for scooter parking, much like strollers. Since parking locations can vary from restaurant to restaurant, I recommend asking your dining team where they’d like you to leave it when you arrive. The crew is wonderful about helping guests find the most convenient and comfortable solution.
If you’re interested in leaving your scooter somewhere outside your stateroom overnight, there’s often an “unofficial” storage area on each ship; on the Wish, it has sometimes been in an alcove on Deck 3, just around the corner from the stage in the Grand Hall. Guest Services can confirm the current location and help arrange that for you. Disney Cruise Line also provides a
booklet for Guests with disabilities, which includes information on accessible seating in theaters and other venues. And when you visit Disney Castaway Cay, you’ll find complimentary sand wheelchairs available to make exploring the island easier.
I hope this helps you feel prepared for your upcoming adventure, Kevin. If you have any more questions before you set sail, I’m always happy to help.
“Sea” ya real soon,
Eean
