Hi there, Ami. Welcome to
planDisney, and thanks for bringing us this awesome question. Let’s check the state of hopping and see if there is a solution that works for you.
The announcement was made that this policy will change at some point this year, but there hasn’t been any update. That means that
Park Hopper ticket holders must scan into the park they chose when they made their reservation, and can’t hop until after 11:00 a.m. If you happen to arrive after 11:00 a.m., it doesn't matter which park you go to first.
If you made a reservation for Disneyland, but would prefer to start in
Disney California Adventure, you may be able to modify your reservation to start there instead. Using your
Disneyland Mobile App, press the (☰) on the home page and scroll down to “Future Plans,” select the reservation you want to change, and press “Modify Reservation.” You can then see if the other park is available and follow the instructions to make the change.
I hope this clears things up and gives you a solution that will make this trip exactly what you were hoping for! Ami, you’re coming during an exciting time of the year at the
Disneyland Resort. Did you know you can check what nighttime spectaculars and parades are scheduled by visiting the Entertainment Schedule on the Disneyland website? Just hover over “Tickets & Parks” and click on “
See All Hours & Entertainment Schedule.” Select the date you are arriving, and you can see all the great shows that are scheduled for that day, like
Fantasmic,
Paint the Night Parade,
Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga,
Tapestry of Happiness,
Wondrous Journeys, and
World of Color Happiness! That list happens to be what’s playing on the first day of your visit. How exciting!
You’re going to have a great visit, and I hope you make many magical memories! If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to bring them back to us at
planDisney. I hope you have a magical day.
Corey
