There are a few different
Lightning Lane options to consider for your visit, which I
detailed for another guest here. Passes aren't required to enjoy the parks, but they can save you valuable time in line if you're hoping to check a bunch of experiences off your to-do list.
I typically purchase Lightning Lane Single Passes for my visits as they are available for the most in-demand attractions (which often have the highest wait times). If you are a thrill seeker, I would definitely recommend purchasing a Single Pass for
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT-my favorite ride across all of Walt Disney World Resort. I usually skip Multi Pass at EPCOT and hop in the standby line for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Test Track, and Soarin' early in the day before enjoying a leisurely stroll around World Showcase through the remainder of the day. When visiting Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, I prioritize an early morning ride on Expedition Everest before heading to Kilimanjaro Safaris. An afternoon cool down on Kali River Rapids is also a great plan for a summer visit. These attractions are all
available as Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections, but I find the standby lines to be quite manageable early in the day. If you're an early bird like me, you might be able to tackle a number of attractions before the heavier crowds roll in. I'd suggest budgeting for Avatar Flight of Passage instead, which is available as a Single Pass selection and is my teen's favorite experience in the park.
I do recommend purchasing
Multi Pass for Magic Kingdom Park, as it offers the most Lightning Lane experiences. You'll select one experience from the first group and the remaining 2 from the second group, but you can make new selections from either group, subject to availability, as you redeem experiences throughout the day. You can also purchase up to 2 Single Pass selections per day, in addition to Multi Pass. My family likes riding TRON Lightcycle / Run after dark, so that would be a fun option to add to your plans.
One last tip:
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is scheduled at Magic Kingdom during your visit (August 18), which will shorten the regular park hours that day. In my experience, standby waits are usually lower on party days as guests head to the other parks to enjoy a full day of admission. While you'll miss a showing of
Happily Ever After on party days, the lower crowd levels are a great trade-off if you decide to skip purchasing Lightning Lane Passes.
