Based on your arrival date of July 17, your Lightning Lane purchase window will open soon. If you have an
eligible resort reservation, you can purchase 7 days ahead of your check-in date for your length of stay. If you are staying off-property, you can purchase 3 days ahead of your ticket start date for your length of admission.
In my experience, Lightning Lane Single Pass often sells out first, so I would prioritize those purchases if you have your heart set on eligible attractions like
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT or
TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom Park. You can purchase up to 2 Single Pass selections per day, in addition to or instead of Multi Pass options.
I recommend reviewing the list of Multi Pass eligible experiences at each park to determine your plan of action.
While you are free to
make a new selection at any park after redeeming one of your initial 3 attraction selections, arrival windows are always subject to availability and aren't guaranteed. Let's say you really want to experience
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Mania! at Disney's Hollywood Studios (those would be my picks, too). In that case, I'd purchase Multi Pass for Hollywood Studios and select afternoon return windows instead of purchasing for EPCOT, with hopes to secure arrival windows for all your Hollywood Studios must-dos on the day of your visit.
Likewise, if Test Track,
Soarin' Across America, and Living with the Land are at the top of your list and you are happy to go with the flow at Hollywood Studios, then I'd opt for Multi Pass at EPCOT and plan to check the My Disney Experience app throughout the day. There is no wrong way to plan your perfect itinerary; it really just depends on your priority experiences.
Kasey, keep in mind that guests can
cancel or modify their plans after booking, so don't be afraid to refresh your My Disney Experience app frequently as you enjoy the parks. You might find availability for a previously unavailable attraction when you least expect it. You are also welcome to experience any attraction via the standby line if you aren't able to snag a Lightning Lane return time or just need a second go-round. On my last visit, our family purchased a Single Pass for Cosmic Rewind and rode it again via standby a few more times before tucking ourselves in for the night.
