Hey there, Michele! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney. It's always a good time to be planning your next adventure at
Walt Disney World Resort! You've got a friend in me, and I'm here to help you get all the information you need for a magical vacation - or to (sadly!) cancel one.
I'm sorry you got some conflicting information, and I checked with a couple of Cast Members via phone and chat to make sure that I have the correct details for you. The rules for canceling room-only reservations at a Disney
Resort Hotel changed last year, and the website you visited noting the 8-day cancellation policy is correct. As long as you cancel at least 8 days before your planned check-in date, you will receive a full refund of your initial deposit. Guests canceling room-only bookings canceled between 0 and 7 days before arrival will be charged for the cost of one night of the stay, which is the cost of the deposit.
If you booked a vacation package that includes accommodations and theme park tickets, the rules are a bit different. Cancellations for a vacation package 30 days or more before arrival receive a full refund, while those made between 3 and 29 days of check-in will result in a $200 charge (subject to change). There is no refund for reservations that are canceled within two days of arrival.
Michele, I hope this information is helpful as you're getting your (Daisy) ducks in a row for your trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth! I certainly hope you get to keep your vacation on the books and enjoy some well-deserved time with Mickey and pals. Please don't hesitate to reach out to planDisney again anytime if we can help with other questions!
See Ya Real Soon!
