Hi Melanie!
Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your question today. Disney is committed to accommodating
guests with disabilities, and I'm happy to help!
At Walt Disney World Resort, guests with
mobility disabilities have several options for assistance from the parking area to the theme park entrance, where they can rent an
Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) or
wheelchair. When you arrive at a Walt Disney World theme park, you can ask a parking attendant or cast member about the availability of temporary wheelchairs. In some cases, they may have wheelchairs available for use from the parking lot to the park entrance. However, this service is subject to availability and may not be offered in all parking areas.
If there are no temporary wheelchairs available, Cast Members in the parking area may be able to provide assistance or guidance on reaching the park entrance. They can share with you the shortest routes, rest areas, and options like trams or shuttles, which may accommodate guests with disabilities.
My best advice is to plan ahead! If you anticipate needing mobility assistance, you may want to consider renting an ECV or wheelchair from a third-party provider for the entirety of your stay. This ensures you have continuous access to mobility assistance without relying on temporary solutions. ScooterBug is Walt Disney World's exclusive mobility provider & the only company that can drop off and pick up mobility equipment right at the hotel’s bell stand - no need for you to meet them!
I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have more questions before you arrive. We want you to have the most magical vacation ever!
