Aloha, Gerald and welcome to planDisney. I am so excited about your trip to the "Most Magical Place on Earth" to see Mickey and the rest of the Fab Five. For me, it is never too early to start planning.
Yes, you may use older MagicBands provided the battery still works for these features: park entry, photo linking,
room charges (with
Disney Resorts Collection hotels only), and opening your hotel door. There are no instructions on how to change the battery as the units were intended to last about 24 months. That being said I have seen units last over seven years based on usage. If yours is older than 24 months I would still bring it as there is no way to test the battery from home. If it does not work you can still find MagicBand2 being sold in some merchandise locations but the big push now is for
MagicBand+. The battery in those units is rechargeable and you can use it at
Disneyland Resort as well as on
Disney Cruise Line ships.
planDisney Pro Tip: There are still locations where you can customize your own MagicBand2.
Marketplace Co-Op: D-Tech on Demand in
Disney Springs and inside the
Tomorrowland Launch Depot with MADE.
Gerald, I hope your trip is truly enchanted. Please feel free to
write me back directly with any follow-up questions.
Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
