We are not staying at a Disney Resort but want to buy lightening lane passes. Our first day at the parks will be Saturday 10/11. Unrelated, it is both my husband and daughters birthday that day, is there anything I can do to make sure they are celebrated?

Boo to you, Lydia! Your visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth will be here before you know it, and you've chosen such a great time to visit! Between the happy haunts of spooky season, the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival, and the new Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away nighttime parade, there's magic around every corner!

Lydia, as a guest staying at a non-Disney Resort hotel, you'll be able to purchase your Lightning Lane Passes three days before your park visit, so your booking window begins in just a few more days! I recommend taking a look at the included attractions and experiences for each theme park so you'll have a plan in place for which ones you'd like to reserve! Remember that you can purchase both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and up to two Lightning Lane Single Passes for the same day, if you choose!

Now that we've got Lightning Lanes settled, let's talk about ways to add a little extra birthday magic to your visit! While any birthday spent at Disney is sure to be magical, one of the simplest ways to get a little extra birthday attention is to ask for a Happy Birthday Celebration button at Guest Relations or at most gift shops in the parks! The Cast Members will even personalize it for you for free! This magical button is sure to gain you plenty of special birthday wishes from guests and Cast Members alike.

Another way to add to your celebration is to make a dining reservation at a special restaurant, or maybe a character meal for a little extra birthday love from your favorite characters! Be sure to note on your reservation in the My Disney Experience mobile app that you're celebrating a birthday so your server will know to offer you well wishes!

One final idea is to grab a balloon if you're visiting Magic Kingdom or Disney's Hollywood Studios and ask the Disney PhotoPass photographers to capture some fun birthday shots with this prop!

Lydia, I hope this helps! I know you're going to have a magical time and make lots of great birthday memories and magic for your family! If you have any other questions we can help with before your trip, come see us again here at planDisney!

    See you real soon,
    Alison
