Hi! My amazing husband is taking me to Disney World for my 40th birthday! I’m looking for some fun ideas for my special day. We will be at Magic Kingdom on my birthday. Also we have a 12 year old so something fun for all would be amazing!

    Hiya, Tia!

First off, let me start by wishing you the happiest of birthdays! Turning 40 at The Most Magical Place on Earth? Now, that’s how you celebrate in style! And I must agree—your husband is amazing for planning such a special trip. Let’s make sure your big day at Magic Kingdom is filled with unforgettable memories!

To maximize the fun and minimize time spent in lines, I highly recommend grabbing the Lightning Lane Multi Pass so you can secure return times for some of the park’s top attractions. You can also purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for TRON Lightcycle / Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, two of Magic Kingdom’s most popular rides. If you’re staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry and start your day ahead of the crowds. I’d kick things off by stopping at Joffrey’s Coffee in Tomorrowland for a celebratory caffeine boost (and a giant donut—because Disney calories don’t count!). Then, make a beeline for TRON Lightcycle / Run, Space Mountain, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin before wait times climb.

Once you’ve checked a few must-do attractions off your list, I’d recommend grabbing a quick bite at Columbia Harbour House, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café, Pinocchio Village Haus, or Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café, each offering delicious options for a mid-day recharge. After lunch, why not capture the magic of your milestone birthday with a Capture Your Moment photo session from the Enchanting Extras Collection? A professional Disney PhotoPass photographer will guide you through a 20-minute session at an iconic Magic Kingdom location, ensuring you have stunning keepsake photos to remember your special day!

As magical as your day will be, the evening is where you can truly make your birthday shine. I’d suggest securing a dining reservation at Cinderella’s Royal Table or Be Our Guest, where you can indulge in a regal feast for a birthday queen! Your husband can even pre-order a specialty cake with a custom message to make the moment extra sweet. After dinner, end your night in style with a Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party, another Enchanting Extras Collection experience. This will give you a VIP viewing spot for the nighttime show, ensuring you have an incredible, unobstructed view of the fireworks and castle projections while enjoying delicious desserts.

Tia, these are just a few ways to make your 40th birthday magical. If you’re interested in non-park celebrations, I have plenty more tips and ideas! Feel free to send me another question, and I’d be happy to share some resort experiences, dining options, and relaxing ways to celebrate outside the parks.

Wishing you the most enchanting birthday ever!
