Welcome to planDisney Rob! Thank you for trusting us with this type of question. This happens to be my first rollercoaster I went on by myself when I was not very fond of rollercoasters and just starting to take a liking.
Space Mountain turned 50 years old just a few days ago. Can you believe it has been rocketing guests around for half a century? Some fun facts about Space Mountain are the entrance to the coaster leads you down corridors. This descent actually takes you down 17 feet below ground level. This was done so it was not bigger than
Cinderella Castle. This coaster is in the dark and only has lights in the first tunnel heading into the coasters main area. I have a cousin who is also not fond of heights, but speed does not bother him. Seeing the ground far away is what really gets him. With that being said this is the only coaster type he enjoys. He does not get to experience the thrills that often and says this is jaw dropping excitement for him. If there is any coaster you can enjoy this would be the one.
There is another indoor coaster at a different Disney Park that you may be able to enjoy as well.
EPCOT houses
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and it is a dark indoor coaster, and is probably my favorite coaster of all time. This being said I am now a coaster enthusiast, far from those days when Space Mountain was my first solo coaster. This ride is intense and is not completely in the dark. There are some screens as well as lit up props throughout as scenery while you whizz by. I would only recommend this if you have climbed to the summit of Space Mountain numerous times, figuratively of course. Some other attractions that have exciting small drops are
Pirates of the Caribbean and
Frozen Ever After but no heights at all.
I hope this information helps even in the slightest. You can also find videos of POV ride throughs online that may help ease your doubts. If you have any other questions please drop us another line at

Have a magical day,
Jeremy A.
