Hi Don, and welcome to planDisney! I love how
MagicBands are both functional and a fun way to show off our favorite colors and Disney characters. It would be so fun for you and your granddaughter to have matching MagicBands, so let’s figure out your options!
Buying a pre-arrival MagicBand through the
Disney World website is the only way I know of to get your name engraved on the back. The selection changes regularly, so I’d keep an eye on the website to see if the MagicBand you want pops back up again. You have until 6 days before check-in to get your order in. If you purchase a pre-arrival MagicBand 11 or more days ahead, it’ll be shipped to your home. Orders placed 6-10 days before check-in can be picked up at your Disney Resort hotel’s front desk.
Now, there is another fun option for getting a completely personalized MagicBand, which is making a custom one at
D-Tech on Demand in
Disney Springs. You can choose from lots of characters and themes, and even have your name printed on the front. They’re generally not the same designs as the MagicBands sold on the Disney World website,
Disney Store, and in the theme park and resort hotel gift shops, but you could pick a similar color and character to your granddaughter’s MagicBand, even if they don’t match 100%!
MagicBands make it a breeze to scan into theme park and
Lightning Lane entrances, link
PhotoPass pictures, and enter your Disney Resort hotel room, but they also unlock a whole new world of interactive fun that I think your granddaughter will love!
My nephew and I always have fun looking for all the different
Disney Fab 50 Character statues throughout the theme parks. And your MagicBand+ will buzz and light up when you’ve found one! Another game to play with your MagicBand+ is
Batuu Bounty Hunters in
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It’s a great way to explore Black Spire Outpost.
I hope you have a magical visit to Disney World with your granddaughter next month! If you have any other questions, we’d love to have you back at planDisney.
