Hi there, Shannon!
Thanks for contacting planDisney. I hope you are planning a celebratory visit to Disneyland Resort soon!
When making dining reservations, Guests can usually add a
Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake before finalizing their booking. Unfortunately, these cakes do contain gluten. I know how disappointing that can be, as my family also navigates food allergies.
When we’re celebrating a birthday, I often bring an allergy‑safe dessert for us to enjoy back at the hotel. It’s not quite the same as having a cake in the theme parks, but you can still make it feel special! For my oldest child’s birthday last year, I decorated our room after she fell asleep and surprised her with a cake I’d carried onto the plane in a bag. I was worried it would get crushed (or discovered by her!), but it all worked out, thankfully! She was so excited when she woke up!
While finding a full gluten‑free cake in the parks can be tricky, many dining locations offer delicious gluten/wheat allergy‑friendly desserts. I highly recommend the Lemon Icebox Cake at
Cafe Orleans if it’s available during your visit. This lemon no‑bake cheesecake with blueberries and brown sugar oat streusel is incredible!
Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe also frequently carries tasty gluten/wheat allergy‑friendly treats like muffins and cookies. My family eats there during every visit!
One of my favorite allergy‑friendly options is a DOLE Whip from
Tiki Juice Bar or
The Tropical Hideaway in Disneyland Park. They’re the perfect treat on a warm, summer day (or any day!). My youngest had at least one every day on our last trip! Over at Disney California Adventure Park, be sure to stop by
Jack‑Jack Cookie Num Nums for The IncrediCookie, a delicious gluten allergy‑friendly cookie filled with jam.
Always ask to see ingredient lists before ordering, as offerings can change. Disneyland can’t guarantee that any item is completely free of allergens, so each Guest should make choices based on their comfort level. That said, my family has safely enjoyed Disneyland for decades, and we’re already planning our next visit later this year!
Shannon, I hope this information is helpful. Feel free to
reach out to me again if you have other questions.
Magic Happens!
