I am planning a trip for me and my mom in September. She has celiac’s disease and I am trying to find places for her to eat comfortably. Any advice.

    Hello, Dakota!

Thanks for stopping by planDisney. I’m glad you’re planning ahead to make sure your mom can eat safely during your trip. My family also navigates food allergies, so I completely understand how challenging dining on vacation can feel.

Many Quick Service Restaurants offer a “Gluten/Wheat Allergy-Friendly” section on their menus. I recommend downloading the Disneyland app and browsing menus in advance to get a sense of what might work for your mom, just keeping in mind that offerings and ingredients can change. Some of my go‑to spots are Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe and Cafe Daisy in Disneyland Park, and Flo’s V8 Cafe and Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta in Disney California Adventure Park. Most of these locations offer mobile ordering, but I still suggest speaking with the special diets–trained Cast Member at the restaurant before placing an order to confirm whether your mom feels comfortable eating there.

In my experience, most Table Service Restaurants can accommodate food allergies, as well. When you check in, ask for the allergy-friendly menu and let your server know about your mom’s restrictions. These menus usually mirror the regular menu with slight modifications, so it’s helpful to look at the standard menu ahead of time to see what sounds appealing. I’ve had especially good experiences at Storytellers Cafe, Carthay Circle Restaurant, Carnation Cafe, and Lamplight Lounge, though my family has safely dined at many Disneyland restaurants over the years. Dining reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance on the Disneyland website or app.

As your mom likely knows, dining out with food restrictions really comes down to her comfort level. Disneyland typically follows allergy‑friendly protocols, but they can’t guarantee that any item is completely allergen‑free, and ingredients can change at any time. That’s why it’s so important to speak with a Cast Member or Chef before ordering. She’s also welcome to bring her own food into the parks if that feels like the safest option. I always have extra snacks on hand just in case we run into any snafus!

If you’d like more detailed guidance or have specific questions, you can also reach out to the Special Diets team. They are the experts!

Dakota, I hope you and your mom make treasured memories during your upcoming visit to Disneyland. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have other questions.
