i need to cancel a reservation

    Hello there, Jon!

Welcome to planDisney and thank you for bringing us your question about Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning. I'm sorry to hear your plans have changed and you'll need to cancel a reservation. As someone who's had to cancel multiple types of Disney reservations (Resort hotel, dining, Enchanted Extras Collection, etc.), I know it can feel "un-magical." However, I'm here to help guide you through the cancelation process.

Jon, conveniently, many types of Walt Disney World Resort reservations can be canceled or modified online. If it's a room-only Disney Resort hotel reservation you'd like to cancel, you may do so without penalty up to five days before your scheduled arrival by logging into your Disney account on the Walt Disney World Resort website and tapping the "My Disney Experience" tab. Scroll down to locate the Resort hotel reservation you need to cancel and select "Cancel Reservation" near the confirmation number. Follow the onscreen prompts to cancel the booking. Your deposit should be refunded to you within one to two weeks. If you don't see the option to cancel online, simply reach out to the friendly Cast Members at the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations phone line for assistance.

If you've booked a vacation package that includes a Resort hotel reservation and theme park tickets, you may cancel your booking within 30 days of your scheduled arrival with no penalty (excluding Travel Protection, which is refundable within 14 days from the date that it was added to your package). If you're within 30 days of your arrival (but no later than three days out), you'll be charged a cancelation fee (at the time of writing, the fee is $200). If you're already within two days of your scheduled arrival, you'll forfeit 100% of the vacation package price, Jon. Therefore, I encourage you to cancel or modify your reservation as soon as you're able to do so.

Dining reservations may be easily modified or canceled on the Walt Disney World Resort website or using the My Disney Experience mobile app. Guests may change or cancel their Table-Service dining reservations up until two hours before the reserved dining time. To cancel a dining reservation in the My Disney Experience mobile app, tap the "☰" icon and select "Future Plans." Locate and select the dining reservation you need to cancel and tap "Cancel."

Jon, I hope these instructions help you to accomplish the cancelation of your Walt Disney World Resort plans. Remember, many reservations can be modified to different dates, so don't rule out changing your plans before canceling altogether, if feasible! If the time isn't right to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth right now, then I hope you're able to visit sometime in the future. When you're ready to start planning that next trip, find us here at planDisney. We're here to help you make magical Disney Parks memories!

    Warm wishes,

    Lauren
