Hi Denise!
Thanks for bringing this question to planDisney!
In my opinion, a 19-month-old will not need a
MagicBand. Since kids under 3 years old do not need a park ticket or Lightning Lanes, they won’t need to scan in at any point throughout your trip.
With that being said, my boys got such a kick out of scanning in everywhere at that age, so we’d let them use our MagicBand to scan us in. Then we’d promptly stick it back on our wrist, so we didn’t end up losing it by accident!
In addition to not needing a park ticket or
Lightning Lanes, kids under 3 also eat for free at any buffet or family-style meal. That includes quite a few of the character dining spots! Just make sure to add them to your dining reservation so the restaurant can ensure they have adequate space for your family.
There’s nothing quite like seeing the magic of
Disney through a toddler’s eyes, and I’m so excited for you to experience it! A couple things my boys absolutely loved at that age were exploring all the play areas around the parks (especially at
Epcot) and waving to their favorite characters during the
parade at Magic Kingdom. My favorite spot to watch the parade is right up at the front of the park near
Harmony Barber Shop! It usually allows us to have a little more space, giving us the perfect view.
I hope you have the best time! Let us know if you have any other questions!
