My mom 70th bday is coming up & we are going to WDW in October. I want to think of something special to do for her? We grew up going to Disney and such a huge part of our childhood! Now, she is nana and taking our kids as well. Want to celebrate her

    Hi Michelle,

    Welcome to planDisney!

How exciting to be able to celebrate your mom's birthday at the Walt Disney World® Resort! Let me start first by saying that I am sure just being in the middle of the magic with her family would be enough. And, depending on your budget, there are plenty of options potentially included with your admission.

First things first, you could find a spot for the fireworks at Magic Kingdom or EPCOT and watch them with her. No matter how many times we have seen the fireworks, my girls and I think they are amazing! If you are staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you could take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry for Disney Resort Hotel Guests. If you arrive to the park early, head to an attraction and be one of the first to experience it that day. If you are staying at a deluxe or deluxe villa resort hotel, take advantage of Extended Evening Theme Park Hours. Check the park hours before your visit to see when those extended hours might be while you are there. My family loves these hours - they truly could provide a special time for you to enjoy park time with your mom.

If you want to do something a little more, you could make an advanced dining reservation. One of my all-time favorites is California Grill. I love dining here during the Happily Ever After fireworks. The views from atop Disney's Contemporary Resort are absolutely stunning. I took my mom to dine here as a special treat for her birthday once. Or, if you truly want a family atmosphere, try dinner at 'Ohana, also during the Happily Ever fireworks. Dining here reminds us to take a few minutes, slow down, and enjoy the time we have together. Finally, if you want your mom to have the royal treatment, I suggest Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast. We love getting an 8:00 a.m. breakfast reservation and then getting into the park while it still feels fairly empty. Those early morning hours feel especially magical.

If your mom likes experiences, take a look at the Enchanting Extras Collection. We have done Caring for Giants, Up Close with Rhinos, and Capture Your Moment: Magic Kingdom Park. More recently, I did the Behind the Seeds tour at EPCOT and was amazed at all of the information shared during the tour. I will say that although this tour is open to little ones, the tour felt like an extended educational experience and there were no young children on my tour. If you choose the Caring for Giants tour, be on the lookout for the newest baby Corra!

Michelle, my final suggestion is to consider ordering from In-Room Floral & Gifts. I will have to say that our girls absolutely loved the balloons we ordered for them on one visit. I hope this gives you a few ideas! Sending a little extra pixie dust trusting that you will plan the most magical surprise for your mom!

    Magic and memories,
    Donyell
