Hi Erin! Thanks for visiting planDisney.
You might be able to use your bands, but it depends on what type of band they are. Only
MagicBand+ works at Disneyland Resort. MagicBand+ lights up various colors and interacts with Attractions and Entertainment, buzzing and vibrating on your wrist as you ride through select Attractions, walk past a statue, or enjoy Nighttime Entertainment. Also, MagicBand+ requires charging. Does this sound like your band? If not and your bands were only used to scan into the parks, Lightning Lane Entrances, your hotel room, and pay for merchandise and food and beverages, you have a model that isn't currently functional for Disneyland Resort.
If you have MagicBand+, you'll need to assign your ticket to the band. You can do this on the
Disneyland mobile app, which I can walk you through. First, make sure your band is fully charged. It needs a full charge to be linked. When your band is charged, tap the three-bar menu on the bottom right side of the app and scroll until you see the "MagicBand+" link. Tap to be taken to the next page where you can add your band. Tap the "+" sign and tap "Open Scanner to Link." Follow the prompts to complete the linking of your band. You'll then need to assign each band to an
admission ticket. Once you've done that, you'll be ready to go!
One difference between Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World is that bands can't be used to pay for merchandise or food and beverages at this time. But it's a convenient hands-free option for scanning into the parks and Lightning Lane Entrances with Disney's Genie+ Service, and the fun interactive elements of the bands create an immersive experience.
If your bands are an older model, just leave them at home for this trip. You can either scan into the parks and
Lightning Lane Entrances with your mobile device or purchase a new MagicBand+ on
shopDisney or when you arrive at Disneyland Resort. They have lots of cute options! You can select the styles that suit each member of your group.
Have a magical time!
Elizabeth
