I am a magic key holder, but we are visiting the parks with friends who have 2-day park hopper tickets; will we be able to park hop at the same time or does the 11am rule still apply to day tickets?

Hi there, Cortney! From one Magic Key holder to another, welcome to planDisney! It doesn't get much better than hanging out with friends among the attractions, Characters, shows, and immersive theming of the Disneyland Resort. Let's make sure you're all set to have a great time.

I love that your friends will have Park Hopper tickets – your group will have lots of flexibility in how you spend your time at the Resort. And here's the good news: The 11 a.m. restriction for switching between the parks is no longer in place. As long as you and your friends have a valid Park Hopper ticket or Magic Key pass and a theme park reservation, you can move between parks whenever it works best for you!

It's worth noting that there are times (albeit rare) when switching parks may be unavailable due to capacity limitations or other restrictions. From what I've seen, though, it's more of a possibility during major holidays. I've personally never had an issue crossing over from one park to the other, for what it's worth.

Cortney, you might want to consider the Lightning Lane Multi Pass if attractions are a priority for you and your friends. You can each purchase it in the Disneyland mobile app once you scan into the park (subject to availability). Then you'd select arrival windows for participating attractions and get access to shorter lines. You might even link your friends' theme park tickets in your app if they're open to it. That way, you can make Lightning Lane selections for everyone at the same time. Another benefit to the multi pass is that it includes unlimited digital downloads of Disney PhotoPass service photos you take that day. You might as well capture some great photos with your friends!

Here are some of the ways I like to spend time in the parks with friends:

    • Make a reservation at a table-service restaurant – enjoy a nice meal while getting a little bit of rest.
    • Incorporate a fun photo challenge into the day, like color hunting, where each person takes photos throughout the day focused on a specific color.
    • Sample seasonal food and beverages, like the flavored specialty cold brews or pumpkin treats.
    • See who can get the highest score on Toy Story Midway Mania! and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.
    • Take lots of breaks during the day to save energy for the amazing nighttime entertainment.
Cortney, I hope you and your friends have a wonderful time together at the Disneyland Resort. If you think of any other questions, please reach out – we're always happy to help here at planDisney!
