Hi Rick, and welcome to planDisney! I’m sorry to hear that your
MagicBand+ won’t turn on. Since it sounds like you’re on your magical vacation right now, let’s figure out what’s going on so you can enjoy all of the fun MagicBand+ effects!
Doing a factory reset is usually my go-to when my MagicBand+ isn’t working. But I find that it can be a little tricky. With the factory reset, you need to press the button on the back once, quickly followed by a second press that you hold for 15 seconds. You’ll know it’s working when you feel three haptic buzzes along with rainbow-colored lights. It took me a few tries to get the timing right—it’s harder than it looks! Once the reset is complete, the lights will turn off and then flash green, try turning on your MagicBand+ and pairing it in the My Disney Experience app.
If that’s still not working, I’d recommend calling the
App and MagicBand Support phone number and a Cast Member can troubleshoot with you in real time. And since it sounds like you might be at Disney World right now, you can also stop by
Guest Relations or one of the
Guest Experience Team kiosks to see if they have any additional suggestions to try.
While you’re getting your MagicBand+ up and running, you should still be able to use all of the basic functionality, like scanning into theme park and
Lightning Lane entrances, linking
PhotoPass pictures, and opening your
Disney Resort hotel room door.
I’m wishing on a star that your MagicBand+ issues are resolved soon! The light-up effects around the theme parks and during nighttime spectaculars feel like a bit of extra pixie dust throughout the day. There are also some fun games and interactive features you can use your MagicBand+ for, like
Batuu Bounty Hunters in
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and finding all of the
Fab 50 Character statues throughout the theme parks.
I hope you’re having a magical time at Disney World this week! If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
