Hi there Katherine, and welcome to planDisney!

When I got married last year, I had definitely pondered everything I had to take care of when it came to changing my last name and certainly wondered how it must affect one's MyDisney account. I reached out to the Guest Relations Cast Members and they actually encourage you to contact them directly through the folks specifically tasked with handling My Disney Experience, MagicBand and MagicBand+ issues. These are the folks who have access to see the details of your account(s) and troubleshoot wherever necessary; though here at planDisney we're fellow guests and don't have the ability to troubleshoot anything account-related, I can still offer some insight and suggestions:

While it's possible to have several MagicBands, they cannot be transferred or reassigned once they have already been linked to an account. (It sounds like you created a brand-new MyDisney account under your new name and this may be why you're encountering difficulty here!)

After getting married, I found it quite easy to change my last name without having this affect any of the Tickets, Annual Passes, MagicBands or anything else already linked. Logging in to the MyDisney account to access my Profile, it was simple to select "Manage MyDisney Account" to change my last name and it was saved immediately. It's important to take note that when you make changes to your personal details like your name, your identification should reflect the same in case you're asked to present it by a Cast Member or management.
