Hi Stuart!
Thanks for bringing this question to planDisney!
At this time, we don’t have any word on when Tom Sawyer’s Island and Rivers of America will close to make way for the new Cars area in Frontierland.
Leading up to your trip, I’d keep an eye on the
Hours & Events Calendar for updates. Once a closing date is announced, it will likely be stated in the “Closed for Refurbishment” section under Magic Kingdom. I’ve also found that there will usually be an announcement on the
specific attraction page online or on the
My Disney Experience app with any important updates.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed that your family will be able to explore Tom Sawyer’s Island during your trip. But if not, there are lots of exciting things coming to the Disney Parks this year!
What I’m most looking forward to is
“Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away.” This is a brand new nighttime parade that will be coming to Magic Kingdom this summer. While there hasn’t been an opening date announced yet, you just might be lucky enough to see it with the timing of your trip!
Beyond that, there will be a new lounge opening in Epcot in late spring and two new shows debuting at Hollywood Studios this summer. Test Track will also be reopening in late summer after being reimagined. Check out
Disney Parks Blog as you countdown to your trip for the most up-to-date information.
Remember, if you’re
staying at a Disney World resort in 2025, you’ll also get to take advantage of free water park tickets on your arrival date. That will be the perfect way to kick off vacation and beat the heat of summer!
I hope you have the best trip! Let us know if you have any other questions.
