We are looking at booking at Fort Wilderness this Wednesday and checking out Thursday. If we checkout and head to the theme park on Thursday, can we park the RV at Fort Wilderness? If so, can we run our generator while it is parked there?

    Hey there, Stephanie!

Thanks for moseying on over to planDisney with your question. I'm excited to hear about your potential stay at The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort this week, and ready to help ensure a rootin’-tootin’ magical visit!

You'll be glad to know that guests can enjoy resort amenities until midnight on their checkout day, as my panel pal Wilma shared here. This includes resort pools, dining, recreation, and parking. While you'll need to relocate your RV from your campsite to overflow parking when it's time to check out, you are welcome to leave it parked there while you enjoy your day in the parks. There is also RV parking available at each of the 4 parks if you decide it's easier to pack up and drive to your park of choice. This way, your vehicle will be waiting for you, rather than having to return to the resort. Keep in mind that standard theme park parking is complimentary for Disney Resorts Collection hotel guests, but Oversized Vehicle Parking (including RV parking) is available at an upgraded cost.

I hate to saddle you with some less-than-magical news, but you will not be able to run your generator while your unattended vehicle is parked (whether at Fort Wilderness or in a theme park lot). I reached out to a Cast Member who confirmed that "in general, Walt Disney World does not allow any vehicle and generators to be left running for the safety of everyone involved." They also went on to explain that "at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, you are provided with electric hookups, making generator use unnecessary and generally against policy."

Guests have asked about this in the past, especially those traveling with pets. If you will be traveling with a pet and want to ensure your furry friend is comfortable during your theme park adventures, daytime boarding is available at Best Friends Pet Hotel, just a few minutes' drive from Fort Wilderness.

I hope this clears up any confusion. If you have any additional questions, please don’t be a stranger; blaze a trail back on over to planDisney and let us know! You've got a friend in us, and we're always ready to lend a hand.

    So long, partner!
